genevieve Labuschagne
I have always been fascinated by human behaviour, driven by a curiosity about why people act the way they do and how their experiences shape their decisions and lives. Music, movement, improvisation and comedy sit at the core of my creative practice. Unwilling to confine creativity to a single form or genre, I am always ready to adapt my process to suit the needs of every story I seek to explore and tell.
As a theatremaker, I am always motivated to create theatre which offers hope, respite and new perspectives, in ways that don’t feel didactic, preachy or pushy, encouraging people to think and talk about topics which are often ignored or uncomfortable to discuss.
Having trained vocationally as a dancer from a young age, my creative interests are rooted in the body and in movement. I am drawn to the expressive power of gesture and physicality, where meaning can be communicated with nuance and immediacy - often without the need for words.
